The Douglas County Emergency Management team wants all residents
and visitors in the county to be prepared for storms and emergencies that may
require them to take protective action.
Julie Anderson is the emergency management director. She and Deputy Director Mark McCabe are responsible for creating and implementing an
Emergency Operations Plan. They work with government agencies, schools,
voluntary organizations, healthcare professionals, the private sector and
others to ensure this plan provides for quick response and long-term recovery.
2020 Winter Hazard Awareness
It's cold and it has already snowed. A lot! Winter is an amazing time of year to enjoy the outdoors and together, we can plan for the not so great parts of winter to minimize our risks. Please make sure you have a survival kit in your vehicle. The items you need are shown below. Remember to monitor weather and road conditions before heading out, and if you're taking a long trip by yourself, let someone know where you're going and when you plan to arrive. If you can afford one, a generator is a great investment. If the power goes out, you'll stay warm and have all the comforts of home available to you. Our elderly neighbors and those with difficulties moving about, could sure use a hand with clearing their sidewalks and front porches, so this winter lend a hand if you can.
