Incident: 2021 MADD Statewide Recognition Awards

Location: Douglas County

Case Details:

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is proud to report that Deputy Alex Herzberg and Deputy Corey Sammons were two of over 100 individuals, including law enforcement officers, judicial officials, probation officers and other volunteer representatives, throughout the state of Minnesota who were recognized for their outstanding efforts in DWI and education on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.

Each year, MADD recognizes the brave men and women of Minnesota for their commitment to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes and prevent underage drinking. Every one of these individuals plays a critical role in the fight to eliminate this 100 percent preventable crime.

Sheriff Wolbersen has always been committed to the safety of those traveling roads in Douglas County.  Deputy Herzberg and Deputy Sammons are both specially trained and recognized as Drug Recognition Experts (DRE's) which gives them special training in locating drugged drivers which is an increasing problem throughout the state.

Officer: Sgt. Scot Umlauf, #243
