The Douglas County Board of Commissioners held its first meeting in the new boardroom space at 822 Douglas Street. The October 5 meeting began with members of the ATV Riders Club requesting a discussion on opening the county to additional ATV riding opportunities. The commissioners decided to form a committee to study the request.
Sheriff’s Office
Sheriff Troy Wolbersen asked the board to accept several donations to the Honor Guard:
- Kensington Lions Club $100.00
- 9/11 Memorial $100.00
- Georgia Nelson $50.00
Public Works
Public Works Director Tim Erickson asked the board to support a resolution for the maintenance of cross-country ski trails in the county. He also asked the board to accept bids and award a contract for repair to County Ditch #6, approve easement purchase for County Ditch #9 and set a hearing date for an Impoundment Petition for Joint County Ditch #2.
Fish and Wildlife Easements
The Fish and Wildlife Service asked the board to approve a wetland easement with Evansville property owner David Anderson and a habitat easement with Keith Wilson of Alexandria.
Facilities
The board approved a request to hire a full-time housekeeper and a groundskeeper.
Social Services
Community Human Services Director Laurie Bonds asked for approval of a Someplace Safe parenting time contract for 2022.
Veterans Service
Veterans Service Officer Jake Turner asked for and was granted an extended leave of absence. He expects to return to the office April 4, 2022, or earlier. Library
Library Director Dawn Dailey requested to fill a fulltime library position which is left open by a staff member moving to another department within the county.
Land and Resource Management
Director Dave Rush asked commissioners to approve a Final Plat for Gracies Addition on the south side of Lake Mary and Stor Smart North Second Addition in Carlos Township.
Auditor/Treasurer
Auditor/Treasurer Vicki Doehling requested a gambling permit be approved for the Leaf Valley Toms for a raffle December 29.
The county board will next meet on October 19 at 9 a.m. at 822 Douglas Street.
