Complainant/Victim: Thomas Wayne Asmus, Age 69 of Starbuck, MN

Case Details:

On March 30, 2020 approximately 1633 hours the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received multiple 911 calls of a large amount of black smoke coming from the above address. A short time later the property owner called stating his detached garage was on fire. Deputies arrived and noticed the detached garage to be fully engulfed. Deputies were able to locate the property owner who stated he was buring a small brush fire near the garage when the structure caught fire. Carlos Fire Department was called to scene and extinguished the fire. Thomas received minor injuries and was transported to Alomere Health by North Memorial. The garage was a complete loss, including multiple miscellaneous tools and older truck parts. Two vehicles that were parked near the garage were also damaged in the fire.
