Douglas County Auditor/Treasurer Vicki Doehling wants to remind property owners their second half real estate tax payments are due on or before October 15, and she wants to remind people who pay their taxes in person, the Auditor Treasurer’s office has moved.

“We have a great new location just a few blocks away from the courthouse,” said Auditor/Treasurer Vicki Doehling. “You will find us at the Administration Building which is at 822 Douglas Street. Make sure you don’t park on Douglas Street. There is a nice big parking lot on Cedar Street and easy access from that lot. We are on the lower level and open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.”

The county wants to ensure all of its customers are able to pay their taxes in the most convenient way, so it offers several options in addition to in-person.

  • Two drop boxes are located at the Administration Building. One is in the parking lot, the other is on the west side of the building at 822 Douglas Street.
  • Online at by searching the Quick Links on the Home Page and selecting “Pay Property Taxes.”
  • Mail payment through U.S. Postal Service or overnight delivery service. It is acceptable to use the preprinted envelope that was sent earlier this year. County officials will ensure the envelopes sent to the old address are delivered to the new location.

To avoid late penalty, tax payments must be received or postmarked on or before October 15, 2021.

As an extra convenience for taxpayers, Douglas County offers a direct payment program.  With this program, a tax payment will automatically be taken out of the designated account on the tax due date. Participants will receive a notification letter two weeks prior to the tax due date. A form is available on the county website at under I Want To/Forms. The link is titled Property Tax Direct Payment Plan.  The form can be completed and returned to the Douglas County Auditor/Treasurer’s office at 822 Douglas Street, Alexandria MN 56308.  For more information, please call 320-762-3077.
