Case Details:

At approximately 1631 hours on Friday, February 1, 2019, the Douglas County Law Enforcement Center received a 9-1-1 report of a possible structure fire at the above address in the city of Miltona. The caller, a neighbor, initially reporting heavy smoke coming from a gable roof vent. The Miltona Fire Department and Douglas County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to the scene. A Miltona fireman while en route to the fire station drove by the residence and reported visible flames coming from the residence.

The structure was a side-by-side duplex. The renters of both apartments were not at home at the time of the fire. The fire was contained to one of the apartments. The apartment involved sustained extensive fire damage to the kitchen and attic, and smoke damage throughout the apartment.

The Parkers Prairie and Carlos Fire Departments responded to the scene for mutual aid. North Ambulance also responded to the scene for safety precautions.

The residents of the fire damaged apartment are being assisted by family members and the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the MN State Fire Marshal's Office.
