Douglas County is proud to share the news that one of our employees is the Lakes Area Professional Women’s organization 2022 Woman of the Year.
Congratulations to Tina Rice. She is recognized for her many roles in our community. She is the Lead Secretary at Land and Resource Management at the county. Her supervisor, Dave Rush, says she frequently goes the extra mile to keep the staff functioning smoothly and her care and compassion show both in and out of work.
Tina is an active member of her church and volunteers for many roles with Lakes Area Professional Women and various nonprofits. Those in LAPW said at the celebratory luncheon, that Tina leads the way in fundraising, getting groups together to work on projects, and will wear any hat needed, medieval or not. That’s a reference to her love of the Renaissance Festival.
If that’s not enough she also works at the YMCA, is married to John Rice, and has a son Sean and daughter Olivia.
The county is proud of her selection as Woman of the Year. According to a proclamation proclaiming March 28 – April 1 Lakes Area Professional Women’s Week in the city of Alexandria, “every March, Women’s History Month, provides an opportunity to honor the generations of trailblazing women and girls who have built our community, shaped our progress and strengthened our character as a people.”
Along with Rice, two businesses were honored. The small employer of the year is Palmer Creations. The large employer of the year is Vance Thompson Vision. Congratulations to them.
